Baseball claimed its series against #1 Orange Coast by winning the finale of their three-game series, 9-7. The Cougars used the longball to take down the Pirates for the second time in the past three days. Rightfielder Zack Berohn opened the game's scoring with a home run to lead off the second inning and Designated Hitter Nik Pagan's tape-measure shot to leadoff the sixth inning proved to be a game deciding run. Freshman Right-hander Braeden Gowdy earned the win with six strong innings of work, while Reliever Johnny Wiltfang was the Cougars' fifth pitcher of the game and nailed down the final three outs for his first save. Shortstop Mason Grotto and Catcher Ian Irvine were the only Cuesta players to enjoy a multi-hit game. Grotto was 2-for-5 while scoring twice and driving in three runs. Irvine, playing in his first game of the year, was 2-for-2with a run and a RBI, while also adding a sacrifice bunt and walk to cap off four productive plate appearances.
