Sierra College wins 2016 CCCAA Men's Swim and Dive Championship

Sierra College made some history as it captured its first-ever men's state championship, scoring 543.50 points to unseat 3-time defending state champ Golden West (runner-up with 508). Orange Coast was third place with 382 behind four event victories.

Sierra head coach Chris Breitbart said, "I'm extremely proud of this great team. At the first meeting of the school year, the swimmers said 'we are going to win the state championship this year.' The kids put in the work, and they were able to do it."

The Wolverines won two events, the 400 medley relay and Slava Illin's spectacular gold in the mile freestyle. Sierra sealed the deal by taking second in the 400 freestyle relay.

The East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium continues to produce state meet records, six this weekend for a new count of 47 in the six years that the Monterey Park campus has hosted the state meet.
